Joanna Jedrzejczyk goes for 6th Title defense at UFC 217

A 3rd championship contest has been added to November UFC 217, in the Big Apple, that will see Joanna Jedrzejczyk look to match Ronda Rousey’s mark of 6 title defenses.

The challenger to undefeated champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk eill be number 3 ranked contender “Thug” Rose Namajunas. In May, Poland’s, Jedrzejczyk defended her title successfully for the 5th time, with a dominate unanimous decision over Jessica Andrade. Now a member of the Florida base American Top Team, Jedrzejczyk continues to impress and improve in every fight. Namajunas competed and made it all the way to the finals of TUF 20, competing against Carla Esparza for the inaugural UFC women’s Starwweight title. Following the loss Namajunas would win 3 straight, before losing a split decision to Karolina Kowalkiewicz, in a number one contenders bout, at UFC 201. Just over 7 months last Namajunas would return to the octagon, submitting Michelle Waterson in the 2nd round, in a performance so impressive, she earned this title shot.

UFC 217 is November 4th at Madison Square Garden in New York, New York. The other  scheduled title fights for the Night will see Georges “Rush” St. Pierre challenging Michael “The Count” Bisping for the UFC Middleweight title and Cody “No Love” Garbrandt defending the Bantamweight title against TJ Dillashaw.
