Top Ranked Lightweights set to clash at UFC 219

A Lightweight contest that will have big ramifications on the divisions title picture has been added to the UFC’s final event of 2017.

Number 2 ranked Contender, Russia’s undefeated Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov (24-0) will square off with number 3 ranked contender, Brazil’s Edson Barboza (18-4) at UFC 219, December 30, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Nurmagomedov is a one of the most tenacious grapplers in all of MMA. Nurmagomedov has 66% finishing rate, with his submission to knockout ratio being 1-1. Injuries, contract negotiations, and religious obligations have slowed Nurmagomedov’s career, he last fought in November of 2016 submitting Michael Johnson by kimura.

Barboza is a Muay Thia striker with some of the most devastating kicks in all of MMA. Training in New Jersey under the tutelage of Mark Henry, Barboza is on a 3 fight wins streak. Eleven of Barbosa’s twelve finishes have come bu knock out, including highlight reel wins over Terry Etim & Beneil Daruish.
