Darrion Caldwell’s First Title defense Headlines Bellator 195
The main event of Bellator 195 will see Darrion “The Wolf” Caldwell defend his Bantamweight title for the first time against Leandro Higo.
Caldwell 30, (11-1) wrestled in college for NC State and is currently training at Alliance MMA. “The Wolf” is coming off dethroning Eduardo Dantas, by unanimous decision back in April, at Bellator 184. Caldwell has won 55% of his fights by decision and has 4 of his 5 finishes by submission. Caldwell has only tasted defeat once in MMA being submitted Joe Taimanglo at Bellator 159, and he evened score, with a decision win at Berllator 167.
Higo 28, (18-3) is a fromer LFA Bantamweight champion and trains along side Bellator Featherweight champion Patricky “Pitbull’ Freire, at the Pitbull Brothers Gym in Brazil. Higo made his Bellator debut on a 8 fight win streak, but on short notice replacing Caldwell, against Eduardo Dantas at Bellator 177. Dantas would win the contest by split deciison. Higo got back in the win column at Bellato 184 with a unanimous decision win over Joe Taimanglo, who’s the only person to defeat Caldwell.
Bellator 195 is set for March 2, at the Winstar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma.
