Boxing will be back at the Route 66 Casino for the first time since 2013, when Legacy Boxing Promotions present “Route to Glory”, featuring former WBC title holder, Albuquerque’s favorite “Pitbull” Josh Torres in the main event.
Standing across from Torres on March 17th in the Legends Theater will be Sacramento, California’s Moris Rodriguez. Torres, who’s currently in Philadelphia, helping prepare Danny Garcia for Brandon Rio, is coming off a April TKO of John David Charles from the co-main event of Legacy Boxing Promotions, “Expo Explosion”. Rodriguez a pro since 2009, who’s won 2 of 3, taking a decision from David Lopez, losing a decision to Ryan Flores, and is coming off knocking out Zachary Wohlman in November.
The winner of our 2017 New Mexico Boxing awards for KO, Comeback, and was half of the fight of the year, undefeated Matthew “Papitas” Esquibel squares off with Amarillo, Texas’s Ben Vasquez, who has all his win by knock out.
In November, Albuquerque’s Henry Anya III returned to the ring after being out of action for almost 4 years. He’ll now look to get back in the win column when he faces Clovis’s Rico Urquizo.
At Battle for the Brave Cristian Castillo vs. Timothy Ruiz, was scrapped at the last minute, when a Ruiz health issue arose, that bout has officially been rescheduled for this card.
Crossing over from the cage into the ring, Stacy Sigala 2-3 in MMA will make her professional boxing debut against Katie “Dynamite” Ramirez of Rosales Kickboxing & Boxing.
