Announced just last night Albuquerque’s Henry Barahona will take on Santa Fe’s undefeated Jess Martinez in the main event of Jackson’s MMA Series XXV.
Barahona (2-2) started off his MMA training at Winks Gym and now as a professional fights out of the JacksonWink Academy. As a amateur “Boom Boom” went 4-1, with 2 submissions and a knock out. Barahona entered the pro scene with big expectations, but lost a decision in his pro debut. His first didn’t go in his favor but he didn’t get The Blue belt under Greg Jackson, didn’t get deterred rebounding too knock out Kasey Yates and take a decision from Jerry Sano in his next two contests. Barahona now looks to rebound from a decision loss to Justin Gonzales from SCL 57, last January.
Martinez (4-0) trains at Superior Fitness, Santa Fe Gracie Barra, & Luttrell/Yee MMA. On the mats since 9 years old, the “Vanilla Gorilla” has displayed great grappling in all his fights, but none better then submitting Roy Saucedo with an armbar in the main event of Jackson’s MMA Series XXIV. When not competing in the cage, the former King of the Cage amateur champion, also regularly competes in grappling for the Fight to Win organization. Jess’s father Fred is not only the one who got his son into combat sports, but also serves as Strength and Conditioning coach.
Jackson’s MMA Series XXV is scheduled for June 30 at the Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino.
