The weigh-in’s are the books and tomorrow night at KOTC: Perennial Cortez, Colorado’s, Joey Trevino will enter the cage as a member of Zia Fight Club.
A couple years ago, the gym Trevino was training at Impluse MMA was about to close as the head coach and then owner had gotten a job offer out of state. Joey & wife Tabitha took over the gym. After a few years of hunting people down for membership fees, countless gym repair, and working nearly 24/7, the Trevino family made the hard decision to close Impluse MMA.
Joey had found out how hard it was to be his own head coach. The next step for Joey was joining Zia Fight Club & head coach Larry Cordova in Aztec, NM. Tervino says “Training there has been an eye opener I feel Much stronger thanks To them!!!’ Also “ Its been more organized as far as training workouts sparring stuff like that!!! “ Saturday night (7/21) at the Sky Ute casino Joey will take on Jasper Chruch.
Trevino doesn’t know much about his opposition and said he “going in with an open mind no specific game plan just go in and do what i love!!! Probably a slow start, turn it up in round 2-3, weight cut for me has been a little bit harder being that I built up some muscle with zias fight camp Larry put us through!!!!”
Zia Fight Club is the best kept secret in the four-corners arena. Trevino, who’s has been in the fight game for over 6 years, hopes to help the secret get.
