Meathead Meets Darth Bader in October

The first semifinal of 2018 Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix has officially been scheduled as “Meathead” Matt Mitrione will face Bellator Light Heavyweight champion Ryan “Darth” Bader in Connecticut.

Days away from his 40th birthday, Mitirone (13-5) is 4-0 in Bellator with 3 knock outs, including beating Fedor at Bellator NYC. “Meathead” won his quarterfinal bout over Roy Nelson by majority decision. The TUF 10 alum, who played in the NFL, has 11 of 13 wins by knock out.

Bader (25-5) who wrestled for Arizona in college is on a 5 fight win streak. The TUF 8 winner is 3-0 in Bellator, winning the Light Heavyweight title in his debut, by split decision over Phil Davis. Bader followed it up with successfully defending the title against Linton Vassell. Bader took out “King Mo” in the quarterfinals with a 15 second knock out.

October 14th at the Mohgan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, the event is expected to be Bellator 207.
