Pair of Copa Combate Qualifiers Announced for September 28

Last Year Combate America’s put on their first Copa Combate,featuring the Bantamweight division. This year the Featherweights get their opportunity to vie for a 6 figure pay day.

Copa Combate is a 1-night 8-fighter tournament, where the winner leaves with 100,000$. Last years win Saul Levy will be fighting for the CA bantamweight Title in his next contest.

Event is scheduled for September 28, at the Pyramid in Long Beach, California.

All qualifiers will be 1-5 minute round fight. These first two qualifiers will see Redondo Beach, California’s, Erick “The Ghost Pepper” Gonzalez (8-2) vs. Roswell born Albuquerque, New Mexico, resident Andres “The Bullet” Quintana (14-2) of Luttrell/Yee MMA, in the U.S. portion. Gonzalez is 4-1 in Combate, 2 decision and 2 TKO’s, coming off a April. TKO of Danny Ramirez. Quintana is 4-0 in Combate, 3 decisions and a rear naked choke, coming off a May victory over Marco Antonio Elpido.

The second five-minute fight will see who will represent Mexico as Pablo Sabori (8-4) faces  Alejandro Flores (12-1). Sabori has 7 finishes, while Flores has 8 finishes, and is on a 4 fight win streak.

A location for November’s Copa Combate has yet to be announced.
