Jedrzejczyk & Shevchenko to Battle for Vacant Flyweight Title at UFC 231

The UFC is moving quickly with its plans for crowning a new Women’s Flyweight Champion as  former starwweight Champion
Joanna Jedrzejczyk will move up to face Valentina “The Bullet” Shevchenko.

UFC 231 is scheduled for December 8, at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada, headlined by Max Holloway defending the UFC Featherweight title against Brian Ortega.
Jedrzejczyk (14-2) successfully defended the women’s strawweight title 5 times before losing it to Rose Namajunas. Jedrzejczyk is coming off a July decision win over Tecia Torres. If successful Jedrzejczyk would be the first women to hold titles in 2 divisions in the UFC.
Shevchenko (15-3) had expected to face Nicco Montano , the then Champion, at UFC 228. Montano was hospitalized prior to weigh-in’s and the UFC stripped, Montano of the title she won after winning TUF 26. Shevchenko holds a decision win over former Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm and has submitted TUF winner Juliana Pena. In her Flyweight debut Shevchenko submitted  Priscilla Cacheira to become the number 1 Contender at 125.
Important to note Shevchenko holds 3 victories over Jedrzejczyk in Muay Thia matches.
