Quartet of UFC 233 Additions

First off the once canceled bout Paul Felder (15-4) vs. James Vick (13-2) has been rebooked & Russian Islam Makhachev (16-1) will face Brazilian Francisco Trinaldo (23-6) in the two of the newest additions to UFC 233. 

Felder returns to Lightweight after a trip up to 170 lbs. and split decision loss to Mike Perry. The Philadelphia native had won 3 in a row all by stoppage prior to the set back. Vick fought in his first UFC main event back in August losing by first round knock out to Justin Gaethje. The loss ended a 4 fight win streak, which saw knock outs of Polo Reyes & Joe Duffy.

Makhachev was last in action at UFC on Fox submitting Kajan Johnson by armbar. Running his current win streak to 4 straight. Trinaldo has alternated wins and losses over his last 4. “Massaranduba” is coming off stopping Evan Dunham with a vicious knee to the liver at UFC Fight Night 139.

In the women’s Flywieght division Scotlan’s Joanne “Jo Jo” Calderwood (12-3) welcomes Brazilian Ariane Lipski “The Violence Queen” (11-3) to the octagon. Normally a striker Calderwood showed off comlete game submitting Kalindra Faria at UFC Fight Night 135 at the end of August. The win put an end to a two fight skid. Lipski is on a 9 fight win streak and has fought 5 of her last 6 for the Polish promotions KSW. During the win streak the 24 year old has found 7 finishes, 5 by knock out.

And lastly in the Bantaweight division former Champion Dominick Cruz (22-2), one of the most intelligent and technical fighters on the roster, will face heavy handed, brawl loving,John “Hands of Stone” Lineker (31-8). Cruz the number 2 ranked contender at 135 hasn’t fought since losing to Cody Granbrandt at the end of 2016. Lineker is the number 6 ranked contender who’s won back to back fights over Marlon Vera (dec) & Brian Kelleher (KO).

UFC 233 is scheduled for January 26 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Califorina.
