IAt the Manuel Lujan Complex, on the Expo New Mexico grounds for Legacy Boxing Promotions, Expo Explosion II. A six bout Boxing card headlined by Josh “Pitbull” Torres vs. Jesus Alvarez Rodriguez.
In the nights opening contest Jaime Aguilera made a successful pro debut, scoring a techno knockout of Levi Lucero after a sharp left hook to the body.
Lorenzo Benavidez also picked up his first pro victory bettering Michale Sanchez by majority deicision on the strength of making his height and reach disadvantage disappear. Benavidez continually cornered Sanchez scoring with big overhand hands & ripping hooks to the body.
Jose Luis Sanchez made his long awaited return to the ring against Anthony Hill. Hill survived an early first round knockdown to see the final bell, but tonight was Sanchez night applying pressure and constantly attacking the body.
Matthew Esquible remained unbeaten after a affair with Ricardo Fernandez taking the unanimous decision win. It was a compossed performance where Esquibel worked behind his jab, occasionally adding in a hooks from either side.
In the co-main event Joe Gomez & Morris Rodriguez put on a brawl. Gomez utilized his reach advantage early, but a game Rodriguez would find his way inside, every punch he threw a big overhand. Rodriguez also passed the chin test after walking into a pair of clean lefts. With the cleaner attack and also being the one applying pressure, Joe Gomez would take the judges tabulation of the score card for a split decision win.
Josh “Pitbull” Torres deliver for his home town fans with a crushing first round knockout, putting Rodriguez away in 76 seconds with a crisp straight right left uppercut combination.
