Combate Americas “World Championship” event Cancelled

Surprisingly, four days out from Combate Americas “World Championship”, the event has been cancelled.

Following a report from James Lindenmuth, a former Ring announcer & member of the show Combat Sports Weekly,  that a radio ticket giveaway for the event had been cancelled, I start to make calls. After several dead ends a source who would rather stay anonymous was able to confirm with great certainty that the event has been cancelled.

Unfortunately, aside from the event page on Facebook also stating cancelled, theirs more questions than answers. The promotion has made no official statement at time of writing this.

The main event was scheduled to see 2018 Copa Combate winner Andres “The Bullet” Quintana in a rematch against Bruni Cannetti, who he beat in the Copa semifinals; with the inaugural Featherweight title on the line. Three-time mma Champion Brenda “Boom Boom” Gonzales-Means was going to face two-time Muay Thai world champion Marili Fanta in the co-main event.

A popular, unconfirmed rumor is that a lack of tickets sales could have led to the cancellation.
