We’re just day away from Mayweather Promotions presenting a triple header at Sam’s Town.
The main event will see New Mexico native, undefeated Angelo Leo (17-0) squaring off with Filipino Mark John Yap (30-13). This will be the fifth time in his last 6 fights that Leo has fought at Sam’s Town. The 25-year-old has won 4 of them by decision. But don’t forget that “El Chinito” has 8 wins by knockout. Yap had a 10-fight win streak ended by a decision loss to Takuma Inoue. The 30-year-old has a 50% knock out rate and is coming off handing prospect Ulysses Lagos his first loss.
The first co-feature will see unbeaten Keith Hunter against gritty fan favorite Cameron Krael. Hunter has a 70% knockout rate. The 26-year-old Las Vegas native is coming off a split decision win over Sanjarbek Rakhmanov in his second fight at Sam’s Town. Krael comes into the bout with more then three times the professional experience of his opponent and is on a 3-fight win streak.
The second co-feature has unbeaten Andres Cortes, who has 6 wins by knockout faces off with Sergio Lopez a 37-fight vet with 15 knockout victories.
Cortes said when asked about his opponent,“He has experience in the ring, but it’s not good experience. My amateur experience coupled with my professional experience makes me confident enough to step in the ring with him. I’m aware of people he’s fought. He hasn’t fought anyone impressive in the ring to me.”
Lopez is well aware of how dangerous his opponent is, “I know he’s undefeated but can be defeated. He’s okay, but I’m stronger more experienced and tougher in the ring”.
Cortes also added he wants the fans to expect “A knockout. I’m not leaving that ring until I get the KO win.” While Lopez says the crowd should “Expect a war! Two crazy Mexicans giving it all in the ring.”
