Mitrione vs. Kharitonov 2 set to headline Bellator 225

“Meathead” & “The Paratrooper” look to continue what barley got going this past February.

After an accidental low blow from Matt Mitrione to Sergei Kharitonov halted their first meeting only 15 second into the main event of Bellator 215. The two heavyweight sluggers are now set to headline Bellator 225 at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on August 24th.

Mitrione won his first 4 fights in Bellator MMA, the first 3 all by knockout. In the quarterfinals of the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix, Mitrione earned a majority decision over Roy Nelson. Mitrione’s Grand Prix ended was he was out grappled by Ryan Bader. The former NFL offensive lineman has 11 of his 3 wins by knockout.

Kharitonov is currently on a 5-fight win streak, which includes a Bellator 175 TKO of Chase Gormley & a Bellator 207 TKO of Roy Nelson. The 38-year-old Russian has fought for such promotions as Strikeforce, Pride, M-1, K-1 & Dream. Kharitonov is a duel threat with 18 knockouts & 8 submissions to his credit.
