Combate Americas championship double header set for Lake Tahoe

Combate Americas has announced that the inaugural Featherweight & Bantamweight titles will both be on the line in rematches on August 23rd.

The event which will be co-promoted by Combate Americas & Tuff-N-Nuff, will take place at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harvey’s.

In the co-main event Andres Quintana (18-2) will battle Bruno Cannetti (8-6) for the inaugural Combate Featherweight championship. The bout was supposed to headline Combate 41, before the event was cancelled four days prior to the show. The first time the two fought, Quintana defeated Cannetti this past December by knockout in the semifinals of the 2018 Copa Combate. Quintana is 8-0 in Combate, while Cannetti won 3 straight heading in the Copa Combate.

The main event is a trilogy bout as Gustavo Lopez (10-4-1) and Joey Ruquet (7-1) battle for the Combate Bantamweight title. Ruquet won the first meeting at Combate 24 by split decision. Their 2nd meeting at Combate 33 had the inaugural Bantamweight title up for grabs. Lopez would walk away with the belt winning by first round TKO. This will be Lopez’s first title defense, while Ruquet got back in the win column 4-weeks ago defeating Juan Pablo Gonzalez by decision.
