The Hollewood view on Night of Champions

Saturday, July 20th at the Tingly Coliseum we had a action packed card. First I like to give kudos to @Legacy Promotions match maker, you have done a tremendous job with the card/match ups. To start the night off, we go to the first bout of the night a 4 round bout.

Recap:
Night of Champions
*Brought to you by Legacy Promotions

Lorenzo Benavidez 2-1 vs. pro debut Randy Ramirez.
Surprisingly, the pro debut Ramirez, also MMA pro fighter with I believe 4 MMA bouts kept his distance in the first round, never allowing Benavidez to find a way in side. Second round Benavidez came in like a bull. Ramirez the much bigger of the two still maintained calm and stayed out of range, maintaining his distance over all fairly well. Then Benavidez finds his range, landing a powerful over hand right; Sending Ramirez staggering in to the ropes. Benavidez angles himself in positions for a devastating left hook to the body. In the middle of the 3rd round Ramirez does not beat the count.
Lorenzo Benavidez improves his record 3-1
Randy Ramirez 0-1

The women fight In the second bout of the night
Bridgette Baca vs. Katie Ramirez with a action packed 4 round.
Toe to toe, not to much if any head movement was made. But when in the mist of of battle, Baca has the straighter punches, which also gives her the upper hand on connect rate”accuracy”. In the early 3rd round Ramirez try to apply pressure, but tends to get caught walking straight forward with no head movement.
Bridgette Baca 2-2 wins Split Decision.
Katie Ramirez 0-3-1

I the 3rd bout
Gabe Gabaldon vs. Anthony Hill
During the matched we get entertained by Hill talking to Gabaldon the whole 4 rounds. For the most part we have Hill coming forward head over waist hands on chest taking hooks, upper cuts as well as body work. But none of the punches seemed to be affecting Hill. I believe the awkwardness of Hill never gave time for Gabaldon to set up his power. So we go to the score cards With Gabaldon 2-0 by unanimous decision Hill 1-27

For the 4th bout of the night
We have Jose Luis Sanchez vs. Jose Pena in a 6 round match up.
Jose Pena from Arizona nick name was raging bull, I had only needed to watch this fight to know why. From the beginning Pena came forward and did not step back once the whole fight, well except for the times Sanchez would let off his quick and explosive combination. By the 4th round I had notice heavy breathing coming from Sanchez, but it didn’t slow down his accuracy catching Pena walking straight forward. It seemed like Sanchez new his range and didn’t want Pena in it. Sanchez has the boxing knowledge and ring generalship to over run the show capturing the win by Majority Decision.
Jose Luis Guero Sanchez 10-1
Jose Pena 3-2

In the Co-main event
Matt Griego “Diamond Boy” vs. Leonardo Torres.
The bull vs the matador, Torres with non stop pressure and a pretty tight defense, trying and corner or keep Diamond Boys back on the ropes. But was not successful. Very impressed by Matthews capability of being able to angle out and re-positioned himself, not only for his punches to land but to also have Torres just standing there getting hit from all sides. Left hooks, liver shots, continuously body to head work and the feet work from Matthew was on point. It was obvious that Matthew had Torres bothered, by the 3rd round Torres is throwing his hands up telling Diamond Boy to bring it. The frustration is clear Matthew is a moving target and Torres can’t track it down. Now one judge had Diamond Boy down 5 rounds, I have know idea what distracted him from the fight or what he was watching. It didn’t stop Diamond Boy from getting the win by Split Decision improving his undefeated record to
Matt Diamond Boy 10-0
Leonardo Torres 4-13

And for the fight of the night
Josh “PitBull” Torres vs. Alfonso Olvera
For the main event of the night, Torres steps in the ring with attack mode on his mind. From the first bell to last. Torres keeps a steady pass up in to the middle of the 6th round. Keeping Olvera on his back constantly trying to create distance. But in the second half of the fight Torres look to be gassing out, but refuses to stop moving forward. Torres is applying pressure moving forward, but with no head movement catching a lot of leather. Olvera looking composed not really tired but his punches seem like they are pitter patter. Torres did have some swelling going on, but through out the fight was more accurate and landing the harder punches. Due to that reason Josh Torres keep the WBC Latin American belt in his home town of Albuquerque. Improving his record to
Josh Torres 21-6
Alfonso Olvera 11-6
