Cyborg & The Jewel to Battle in January

Multiple MMA News outlets are reporting the Bellator debut of newly signed Cris “Cyborg” will be on January 25th in The Forum, where Bellator is this evening.

The bout will be against reigning Women’s Featherweight champion Julia “The Jewel” Budd. A official announcement is expected to e made in proper Bellator fashion during Bellator 228 wit a in-cage face-off.  “Cyborg” will look to win a World Title in her forth different promotion. After holding titles in Strikeforce, Invicta FC, & the UFC.

“Cyborg” (21-2) comes in with 17 victories by knockout. A native of Curitiba, Brazil has also competed in professional Muay Thai going 2-1 in three fights. This past December at 232 the 20 fight win streak of “Cyborg’s” was ended by Amanda Nunes. The 34-year-old rebounded at UFC 240, in her final fight with the promotion handing Felicia Soencer her first career loss, a dominate decision win for the former champion. 

Budd (13-2) is currently on a 11 fight win streak, since losing to Ronda Rousey in November 2011. The span has seen Budd win 6 by stoppage, 5 by knockout. The Canadian is 7-0 in Bellator MMA and has successfully defended the title, she won by pounding out Marloes Coenen at Bellator 174,  3-times. Budd is coming off stopping Olga Rubin at Bellator 224 with a teap kick and finishing up with the ground and pound.
