Chookagian to Challenge Shevchenko for Flyweight Title at UFC 247

The building normally ruled by James Harden, will see Valentina Shevchenko defend her flyweight crown against Katlyn Chookagian at UFC 247.

The Toyota Center in Houston, TX will host UFC 247 on February 8th.

Chookagian is a Mark Henry trained fighter. Since moving to flyweight, the “Blonde Fighter” has won four of five. At UFC 244, Chookagian won her seconds straight, a unanimous decision over Jennifer Maia, to earn the slot as number one contender. Shevchenko is 4-0 at flyweight. The fighter nicknamed “Bullet” has twice defended her belt. Knocking out Jessica Eye, by head kick, at UFC 238. And beating Liz Carmouche, by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 156.

The card has also gained a Heavyweight contest pitting Juan “The Kraken” Adams against Justin “Junior” Tafa.  Adams is a mammoth man. Having to cut his way down to the heavyweight limit. After a 5-0 start to his career “The Kraken” looks to end a two-fight skid. Tafa fought to the highest levels of the kickboxing world competing for Glory before crossing over to MMA. Three knockout victories saw the Australian earn a UFC contract. The “Bad Man” looks to rebound from a knockout loss to Yorgan De Castro.

The card is also rumored to be the destination for Dominick Reyes versus Jon Jones for the UFC light heavyweight championship.
