Southwest MMA Series has announced their 30th event will be January 11th, at Buffalo Thunder Resort and Casino.
The main event will see Santa Fe’s own Aaron Perls, from ANK Muay Thai, & Luttrell/Yee MMA facing Rocky Rosas, from Extreme Fighters in Plainview, TX. Perls hasn’t competed in MMA since a submission win at Buffalo Thunder, in June of 2016. Rosas last competed in August of 2018, getting submitted by Kyle Crutchmer; after successfully making his pro debut by submitting Cody King.
The co-main event is going to pit Maria Rios, from Santa Fe Martial Arts & Fitness, against Stacy Sigala, from The Works in Hobbs, NM. Rios, a vet of RFA & Bellator, hasn’t been in the cage since August of 2015. Rios holds a notable decision win over current UFC fighter Ashley Yoder. Sigala won a decision over Roxanne Ceasear in her last outing, in October of 2016. Sigala has even shared the cage with inaugural UFC women’s flyweight world champion Nicco Montano.
Currently there’s nine-fights official for the amateur portion of the card, five athletes setting into the cage for the every first time. The amateur featured bout has Jesse Moorhouse, from Jackson’s Acoma, vs. Sebastian Grant, from Team Wildman in Colorado. Nathaniel Torrez, from Elevation Boxing tangles, with Jordan Gloria, from Xtreme Fighters in Plainview, TX. Austin Lewis, from Elevation Boxing, battles Jorge Kanakoqui, from Team Wildman. In women’s action Lydia Warren, from JacksonWink, faces Veronica Garcia, from Xtreme Fighters in Plainview, TX. Mark-Matthew McDill, from JacksonWink, meets Anthony Valenzuel,a from Fitness Elite in Odessa, TX. The largest amateur contest is a light heavyweight contest, JC Taylor, from Westside Power Gym, clashes with Bobby Griego, from Desert Dynasty in Alamogordo, NM. Debut-ers meet as Paul Maestas, from Evolution Boxing, collides with Ruben Gomez, from Perez Fighting Systems in Belen, NM. Of the three strawweight bouts the lone male one will see Esai Dimas, from Legacy MMA in Las Cruces, NM, meet David Hudson, from Desert Dynasty. Unbeaten, Aylin Villalobos, from JacksonWink, will take on Samantha Ginithan, from Legacy MMA.
It’s also rumored that the card could continue to grow.
