Sanchez vs. Pereira set for UFC Fight Night Rio Rancho

A long free agent season for Diego Sanchez has ended with “The Nightmare” resigning with the UFC to fight in his home state.

TUF 1 winner Diego Sanchez (29-12) will face Brazil’s Michel Pereira (23-10) at UFC Rio Rancho. The card is a UFC Fight Night on ESPN+, February 15th at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, NM.

Sanchez had been a free since a decision loss to Michael Chiesa at UFC 239. Which came after consecutive decision wins over Craig White & Micky Gall. The former lightweight title challenger has 16 of his 29 wins by stoppage. Ten by knockout ad six by submission. Most would agree Sanchez is at his best when utilizing his grappling skills.

Perieira made his octagon debut in May knocking out Danny Roberts with a spectacular flying knee. In September the 26-year-old put on an incredible display of gymnastics but gassed out losing a decision to short notice opponent Tristan Connelly. Perieira matches Sanchez in the stoppage department, also with ten knockout & six submissions.
