Adesanya-Romero title bout at UFC 248

“The Last Stylebender” will make his first title defense in March against the “Soldier of God”.

UFC 248 is March 7th, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The announcement of this match-up has come as a surprise to many. Romero (13-4) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Paulo Costa. Overall the 42-year-old has lost 3 of his last 4 fight; and has even missed weight for two UFC title bouts in that span. The “Soldier of God” wrestled for his native Cuba in the Olympics and has 11 of his 13 wins by knockout. Adesyana (18-0) had a huge 2019, at UFC 236 he defeated Kelvin Gastelum, in what most consider fight of the year, to win the interim middleweight title. “The Last Stylebender” followed up the performance by winning the UFC middleweight title in October, at UFC 243 knocking out Robert Whittaker in the 2nd round. The win gives the Nigerian fighter 14 knockout victories for his MMA career.
