Shifted to May 9th UFC 249 expected to have trio of title bouts
UFC president Dana White continues to maneuver around obstacles as he work towards getting his promotion back to putting on events. White looks to currently be making good on an earlier promise that the next event could be one of the baddest ever.
Last week it was announced that UFC 249 would not be taking place on April 18th. It now appears that UFC 249 will take place on May 9th. Tony Ferguson versus Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight title is still going to be part of the card along with half of the fights that were set for April 18th.
The card has been elevated to a triple main event adding a pair of title fights originally scheduled for UFC 250 on May 9th, with Felicia Spencer challenging Amanda Nunes for the UFC women’s featherweight title & Dominick Cruz challenging Henry Cejudo for the UFC bantamweight title.
The card has also gained at welterweight a rematch between Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone & former lightweight champion Anthony “Showtime” Pettis. In a top 10-Strawweight match-up number 7 ranked contender, former champion Carla Esparza faces number 8 ranked contender Michelle Waterson. Also originally set for UFC 250 former heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum faces 70-fight vey Alexy Oleinik. Plus, rescheduled from May 2nd, unseated Bryce Mitchell squares off with Charles Rosa.
Again this is not official and is all based off rumors. Multiple sites are reporting that scoures have confirmed many of these bouts being verbally agreed to.
