Featherweight title bout booked for June 6th

It is being reported that Felicia Spencer will challenge Amanda Nunes for the UFC women’s featherweight championship on June 6th.

The was first reported by ESPN’s Ariel Helwani. The bout had been rumored to be part of this coming weekends UFC 249. But, Nunes told CBS Sports, basically saying she would not be fighting at UFC 249 and was looking to fighting in June. Which would line up with this report.

Nunes (19-4) is on a 10-fight win streak. This will be Nunes first defense of the featherweight title. Since winning the title by first round knockout over Cris Cyborg.  Nunes has since returned to bantamweight defending that title successfully against Holly Holm & Germaine de Randamie.

Spencer (8-1) is a former Invicta FC champion, whose 2-1 inside the octagon. Following a first round TKO win over Megan Anderson in her UFC debut Spencer would earn the right to face “Cyborg”. The Canadian earned respect globally becoming only the fourth person to go the distance with “Cyborg”.  The 29-year-old got back in the win column in February with a first round TKO win over Zarah Fairn.
