Woodley & Burns possibly set for a 5-rounder

The main event for the next UFC event appears to be in place and will be a top ten welterweight match-up.

Gilbert Burns (@GilbertDurinho on twitter) posted on twitter “Bout agreement is signed! May 30th! Let’s go @UFC”, with a picture of himself & Tyron Woodley.

Woodley the number one ranked welterweight contender has not fought since losing the UFC welterweight title to Kamaru Usman last March, at UFC 235. The loss ended a seven-fight unbeaten streak, which included four title defenses.

Burns the number six ranked welterweight contender is on a five-fight win streak and is 3-0 since moving to 170 lbs. In March Burns scored the biggest win of his career a first round TKO of BJJ legend & two-time UFC title challenger Demian Maia.

A Location for the event and broadcast details have yet to be announced. At one point the event was rumored to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on May 23rd, but those plans couldn’t be finalized due to the current Covid-19 pandemic. Arizona has recently become a prominent possibility to be the host state, with their decision to allow sports without an audience.
