Champions cleaning up Downtown ABQ
On Sunday night Albuquerque saw protesters take to Central ave. A peaceful scene supporting justice for George Floyd, police reform, and The Black Live Matter movement; unfortunately turned into more of a riot like scene, past the midnight hour. The next morning and even sooner in one case, members of the New combat sports community took to the streets in efforts to counter act the damage.
UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones in video below is seen taking spray cans from what appears to be vandals in Downtown Albuquerque.
In the Morning Jones along with other returned to the scene. Sweeping up glass and bring oil board to board up broken windows.
Current professional Boxer &Former King of the Cage champion, Donald Sanchez along with his team from Bosque Roofing also took the streets and joined in on the repairs.
Jones doesn’t have the strongest public image and his legal issues have been well documented. Just last week “Bones” was engaged in a very public dispute with UFC president Dana White over wanting to meet at a negotiation table to talk about a perceptive move to heavyweight, which fans have been clamoring for. Jones has went so fas as to announce he’s vacated the title on Twitter. Drawing the anger of even more critics.

Weather it’s been inside the cage, the ring or anywhere in the business world Sanchez has always done everything he can to be the best to be a role model representing New Mexico in the right way.

It saddens and disappoints me to see those who use this opportunity, where real change could be made and instead steal the spotlight with looting and destruction that only further hurts the world and takes attention away from the real issues.
