Unfortunately, the day before the weight-in’s for UFC Fight Night: Eye vs. Calvillo there has been a change to the card.
While details are unclear at this time Ray Borg will no longer be facing Merab Dvalishvili. On twitter Borg posted a photo of his son Anthony, who has had medical issues, with the caption “Family first, see you soon son”. Best wishes, thoughts, prayers out to the Borg family.
The UFC has quickly found a replacement. Merab Dvalishvili will now face Gustavo Lopez. But the fight did not come together that easily. After the news first broke of the match-up, Combate America spoke up about this having Lopez under contract. Lopez has fought nine of his last eleven fights for Combate Americas. The Nevada resident has won three in a row all by first round finish. A few hours after their initial comments Combate Americas has allowed Lopez out of his contract to sign with the UFC. The bout with Dvalishvili will be 140 lbs. catchweight bout due to the short notice nature.
