One addition & five changes to the UFC’s August 1st card

The card for the UFC’s August 1st return to Las Vegas has been flipped upside down and inside out this week.

The main event was scheduled to see Holly Holm versus Irene Aldana until, Aldana tested positive for Covid-19. Elevated from the co-feature position, the new main event has number eight ranked middleweight contender Derek Brunson against unbeaten, number nine ranked Edmen Shahbazyan.

Viviane Araujo has tested positive for Covid-19. Jennifer Maia will now face Joanne Calderwood. At light-heavyweight Da Un Jung is out, Gerald Meerschaert will face Ed Herman. Jun Yong Park has pulled out of his fight with Trevin Giles, who is now going to battle Kevin Holland. Luke Sanders has withdrawn from fighting Chris Gutierrez; no replacement opponent was found.

On the new side the card has gained what will be the second meeting between Landon Vannata & Bobby Green. Their first fight in October of 2017 at UFC 216, was scored a split draw and won fight of the night. In February Vannata won a decision over Yancy Medeiros while Green won a decision over Clay Guida, four weeks ago.
