The Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, hosts Bellator 243. The 10-fight card is topped by the second meeting between former world champions, “Iron” Michael Chandler against “Smooth” Benson Henderson.
Recap: The prelims started off with Dalton Rosta running his unbeaten record to 3-0, busting Mark Gardner up so much the ringside doctor stopped the fight after the first round. Charlie Campbell came out hitting Nainoa Dung with the low calf kick, taking away Dung’s left leg getting the TKO win. Unbeaten Grant Neal went the distance for the second time in his career, out grappling Hamza Salim by unanimous decision. Valerie Loureda scored her second career win by putting Tara Graff on the ground with a right hand late in the round, scoring the knockout at the bell with ground strikes. In a deeply personal, mostly contested on the ground battle Cris Lencioni survived being headbutt and hit with an illegal up-kick, out working Aj Agazarm for decision, his third consecutive win. Adam Borics rebounded from his first career loss to out strike Mike Hamel for the split decision wins. The main card started off with Sabah Homasi showing his wrestling ability completing four takedowns to winning a unanimous decision over Curtis Millender. Myles Jury made it back to back decision wins defeating Georgi Karakhanyan by split decision. Jury cut Karakhanyan in the first and got a takedown in the third. Timothy Johnson take Matt Mitrione to the ground in the first 30 seconds and punched his way to the first round finish. Michael Chandler catcher Benson Henderson with a left hook on the chin dropping the former UFC champion to his knees. A follow up right from the former Bellator champion and Henderson is out cold.
