Mike Perry to face a former champion at UFC 255
The UFC is giving Mike Perry the opportunity to add a huge feather in his cap and break into the rankings to around Thanksgiving.
“Platinum” Mike Perry is set to face off with former welterweight champion, number 15 ranked contender, “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler at UFC 255. In June Perry ended a two-fight skid beating Mickey Gall by unanimous decision. The man nicknamed “Platinum” has a fan friendly brawling style that as made him a favorite of fans and the promotion. Perry has 11 wins by knockout but has faltered in his offer chances to break into the rankings. Getting submitted by Donald Cerrone. Losing a highly contested decision to Vicente Luque. And getting knocked out by Geoff Neal.
In 2013Robbie Lawler returned to the UFC for his second stint with the promotion. Lawler made an impact immediately knocking out Josh Koscheck & Bobby Voelker. Although he would lose a decision to Johny Hendricks at UFC 171. The hunt for the belt would continue. Two more win and Lawler would again get a title shot. At UFC 181 the welterweight title left the octagon around Lawler’s waist. The reign would last for three defenses. Lawler now sit at having lost five of his last six fights and has the swipers of retirement creeping up on him.
UFC 255 is November 21 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas Nevada.
