UFC 261 heads to Jacksonville with Usman-Masvidal 2

Dana White has proclaimed that the UFC is back.

The UFC will be back at the Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida on April 24th for UFC 261. The UFC is back to being allowed to have a full arena of fans.

And the UFC is reaching back to what was one of the biggest fights of 2020. The main event of UFC 261 will be a rematch, as Jorge “Gamebred” Masdival again attempts to dethrone welterweight king Kamaru “The Nigerian Nightmare” Usman.  Masvidal took the first fight at UFC 251 on eight-days’ notice replacing Gilbert Burns. The BMF champ would give a valent effort but even with a broken nose the champion would impose his will and take the decision victory.

The question quickly arose, would the fight have played out different if “Gamebred” had a full camp to properly prepare? Masvidal now has the chance to prove it would have. Winner of three of his last four fights, Masvidal is a dangerous striker whose left the judges out of his last five wins.

Usman defended the welterweight title for a third time in February stopping former teammate Gilbert Burns by third round TKO. A wrestler who has become a dangerous kickboxer the champ has won an incredible 16-fights in row.

The card will be a championship triple header. Zhang Weili defends the women’s strawweight title against former champion Rose Ramajunas & Valentia Shevchenko defends the women’s flyweight title against former strawweight champion Jessica Andrade.
