The UFC has officially announced that Glover Teixeira will challenge Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight title belt on September 4th.
Poland’s Blachowicz is in a fight-fight win streak heading into his second defense . At UFC 253, Blachowicz captures the belt and scored his 8th win by knockout beating Dominick Reyes. In March the 38-year-old defended the title for the first time grinding out middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.
Brazil’s Teixeira will challenges for the 205 lbs world championship for the second time after falling short against Jon Jones in 2014. Seven years later and like the champion, Teixeira has won his last five fights. The 41-year-old won two fight in 2020 ground and pound the teeth out of Anthony Smith’s head and submitting Thiago Santos.
The venue and location for the event were not announced.
