The UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada hosts UFC Fight Night “Rodriguez vs. Waterson”. The nine-fight card is headlined by top ten ranked strawweights Marina Rodriguez & Michelle Waterson meeting at flyweight.The main event officially coming together this week. After a laceration over the right eye of TJ Dillashaw removed him from facing Corey Sandhagen. The original co-main event had been set to seea battle between former teammates, Diego Sanchez against Donald Cerrone. Jumping in to replace Sanchez, who is no longer with the promotion, is Alex Morono.
Brazil’s Rodriguez is 3-2-1 in six fights inside the octagon. The Contender Series vet has earned decision wins of Jessica Aguilar & Tecia Torres. In her most recent outing at UFC 257, Rodriguez scored a second round TKO of Amanda Ribas. Waterson is a former Invicta FC champion at Atomweight (105 lbs.). Three straight decision wins over Cortney Casey, Felice Herrig, & Karolina Kowalkiewicz, put the “Karate Hottie” in title contention. After back to back losses Waterson got back in the win column in September getting the better of Angela Hill.
In the co-main event Donald “Cowboy” Cerrione, the all-time leader in UFC wins, faces, Texan LAex Morono, who’s 7-4 in his UFC career. The fight will be Cerrone’s 37th in the UFC tying him with JIm Miller for most all-time.
Less then an hour before the event was scheduled to start Angela Hill (13-9) vs. Amanda Ribas (10-2) was removed from the card when Ribas was informed she tested positive for Covid-19.
