LFA 110 Results, Johnson out works Horiuchi to claim interim LFA Title

The Grand Hotel Casino & Resort in Shawnee, Oklahoma hosts LFA 110. The five fight card is headlined by St. Louis’s Charles Johnson battling Japan’s Yuma Horiuchi for an interim LFA Flyweight championship.

Recap:

Opening up the LFA 110 card Oscar Herrera made a successful pro debut, hitting a pair of takedowns early in the second round, before a lateral-drop found Herrera on bottom. The Factory X fighter quick switches his hips grabs the right wrist and gets the tap by armbar. Elite level BJJ practitioner Jaqueline Amorim showed she can strike too knocking down Megan Owen from a right hook. Three more punches on the mat have Owen out and the ref jumping in. The move down to flyweight went very well for Christian Natividad who, still had the tank to go all 15-minutes while knocking down Luis Aquirre in the first two rounds and opening up cuts over Aquirre’s face; topping off the performance with a late takedown. Renato Valente rebounded from a disappointing LFA debut by handing Chibwikem Onyenegecha his first professional loss by split decision. It was the first fight in three years for Onyenegecha who had to deal with adversity after it was a either a punch or a poke went in his eye in the first. Valente took advantage of the situation put Chibwikem on the mat spending time in mount. With a clear eye in the second Onyenegecha was landing his combinations and kept that rhythm going in the third until a overhand right to the temple scoring a huge knock down for the Brazilian. With the belt on the line in the main event Yuma Horiuchi continually moved forward pressuring Charles Johnson with rapid low kicks. The later moments of the first round saw Johnson stagger Horiuchi with a right hand. Horiuchi did himself no favors getting deducted a point for a low blow in the second. In the third & fourth rounds Horiuchi ripped punches to the body while Johnson connected with straight shots down the middle. The fifth round is wear the visual damage, bleeding and swelling appeared cross Horiuchi’s face from the Johnson right cross left hook.  After 25-minutes one strength of damage Charles Johnson win a split decision.
