A year and a half of waiting for MMA to return to Albuquerque comes to an end tomorrow. The weigh-ins for the ten-fight card will be at 6 p.m. MT at 1010 Candelaria NW, the Fit NHB Martial Arts Complex.
The event marks the return of pioneer MMA show Fightworld MMA, who hasn’t thrown a show in the state in over a decade. As with any proper return the card includes several familiar faces to New Mexico fight fans. At welterweight Golden Gloves winner Ty Miller faces longtime Rocky Ramirez protégé Chase Emener. Alamogordo wrestler David Hudson meets Fit NHB scrapper Francisco Dominguez. Tae Kwon Do expert Richard Jennings will battle well versed Tyrel Wisdom, who’s been working with Baca Fighting Systems.
The event also signifies a new beginning. Not only is it the first MMA event in the area since the pandemic began but it’s also the first MMA event held inside the Fit NHB Martial Arts Complex. And will be the amateur MMA debut for eight competitors. Including James Romero & Chris Collins who’ll face off in a light-heavyweight encounter, both have outstanding wrestling pedigrees and were state champions.
