Bellator Light Heavyweight Grand Prix shake up

Anthony “Rumble” Johnson is no longer apart of the Bellator light heavyweight grand prix.

The Sandford MMA slugger has been forced to withdraw from Bellator 268 due to an undisclosed illness. Tournament alternate Julius Anglickas will replace Johnson in facing lightweight champion Vadim Nemkov in the grand prix semifinals.

Anglickas a former LFA champion made his Bellator debut handing Jordan Young his first loss. A year later Anglickas came away from the battle between former LFA champions with Alex Polizzi, having his hand raised. In April Anglickas become grand prix altenate after defeating Gregroy Milliard. The Lithuania born fighter has seven finishes including four by rear naked choke.

Nemkov Bellator reigning 205 lb. champion is a protégé of the legendary Fedor Emelianenko. The Russian fighter is on an eight-fight win streak. Six of those wins have come in the Bellator cage. Four wins in a row put Nemkov in the title. The 29-year-old dethroned Ryan Bader with a head kick and punches on the ground. The grand prix quarterfinals saw Nemkov score a 2nd decision win over Phil Davis.

Bellator 268 is October 16th at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
