Nunes-Pena set to happen in 2021

As requested, Juliana Pena will challenge Amanda Nunes for the UFC women’s Bantamweight championship before the year is out.

The two had been scheduled to fight in August. The fight was removed from the UFC 265 card after Nunes tested positive for Covid-19. After the cancellation, TUF 18 winner, Juliana Pena was campaigning for the fight to be rebooked in the calendar year or wanted an interim title fight.

Pena is a 32-year-old who spends time as a Combate Global commentator. “The Venezuelan Vixen” rebounded from being submitted by Germaine de Randmie to submit Sara McMann three months later.

Nunes the UFC women’s Featherweight & Bantamweight champion is riding a 12-fight win streak. This will be Nunes first defense of the Bantamweight title since beating Germaine De Randamie in December of 2019. Nunes has spent her last two fights defending her Featherweight title.

UFC 269 is scheduled for December 11th in Las Vegas.
