The Pan American Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico hosts Boxing Fight Night presented by School of Hard Knocks promotions. The five-fight card headlined by American Boxing Federation champion Dewayne Bonds against Boxer, Bare knuckle fighter, MMA vet, Derek Perez.
The card was forced into a last-minute change as unbeaten Brandon White versus Mexico’s, Alejandro Moreno had to be cancelled.
The night began with El Paseo’s Mikey Tovar against Albuquerque’s Freddy Sandoval, an MMA vet who took the fight this week. Scoring a knockdown in the 2nd from an overhand right & two more in the 3rd round, one an over hand left, and the fight finisher a right hook.
Returning to the ring after a year away Las Cruces own Amy Salinas and New Orlena’s born Indeya Rodriguez put on the fight of the night over six rounds. In the end the now Dallas resident Indeya Rodriguez for the second time in her professional career came to New Mexico upsetting the local favorite this time by a split decision. Following in the family footsteps Stephanie Han got her pro career going in the right direction earning a four-round unanimous decision win over Clovis’s Isabel Garcia who while a game opponent walked into counter shots from the slicker Han all night long.
In the co-main event Jorge Tovar showed no brotherly love to Philadelphia’s Andre Mack. Putting Mack on the ropes unloading two big combinations with the left hooks stinging the liver sitting down Mack twice for win inside the first two minutes as the El Paseo fighter collected the second victory of his career.
It didn’t take long for Belen’s Derek Perez to get right in the face of El Paseo’s DeWayne Bonds. The ABF champion analyzed what he saw na dstarted answering back with flurries of hook. While on the ropes out of no where a left cross sends Perez to the ground for the one punch knockout at 1:50 of the first round.
