Daruish & Makachev set for a 5-rounder in February

A pivotal Lightweight matchup has been tabbed to headline the UFC Fight Night on February 26th.

Number three ranked contender Beneil Daruish will square off with number five ranked Islam Makhachev with a possible title opportunity up for grabs.

Daruish (21-4-1) is currently on seven-fight win streak that includes submissions of Drew Dober & Frank Camacho and knocking out Drakkar Klose & Scott Holtzman. The Kings MMA trained fighter really started to move up the rankings with his last two wins. Decisions wins over well-respected Brazilian Diego Ferreira & former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson.

Makhachev (21-1) comes in on a nine-fight win streak. The start protégée of former Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, Makhachev embraces a hard-nosed grappling style just like his mentor but is even more willing and proficient in the striking realm. The Dagestan fighter has pushed himself into the title conversation with his last three performances submitting Drew Dober, Thiago Moises, & Dan Hooker.
