Eagle FC 44 Featuring familiar names for US Debut

Retired UFC Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will be bringing his Eagle FC to South Florida for a US debut in late January.

While no longer competing “The Eagle” has remained active in the sport as a coach seen on the sports biggest stage in the PFL, Bellator, & the UFC. Nurmagomedov has also been over seeing Eagle FC as they’ve put on event throughout Degestan & Russia. Nurmagomedov had recently announced a press conference for January 15th in Miami. Since that announcement many details about the event have started to come to light.

The event will be Eagle FC 44 in Miami on January 28th. The main event will see former UFC Heavyweight title challenger Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva against former Kickboxing world champion Tyron Spong.  The biggest moment of Silva’s MMA career came in 2011 when he beat Fedor Emelianenko by TKO in the Strikfoce World Grand Prix. But silva hasn’t been in the win column since 2015 an eight-fight skid including six losses in MMA and one in Kickboxing & Bare Knuckle Boxing. Spong came to MMA after more then 100 wins in Kickboxing. After two wins in the WSOF Spong found displeasure in what he was being offered. Turning his attentions to Boxing Spong is 14-0 as a pugilist.

While no opponent has been mentioned, it’s expected that TUF 2 winner former UFC Light-heavyweight champion of the world “Suga” Rashad Evans will step away from the analyst desk and strap the gloves on one more time. Evans last fought at UFC 225 in 2018.

In an Bantamweight battle between UFC vets former Flyweight title challenger Ray “The Tazmexican Devil” Borg will is going to take on Cody “The Renegade” Gibson. After parting ways with the UFC in August 2020 Borg got back to action in June out working Jesse Arnett for a decision win at UAE Warriors 20. Coming down with Covid-19 coast Borg a chance to challenge Vinicius de Oliveira for the UAE Warrior bantamweight title in October.  In October Cody Gibson beat John Dodson, someone Borg has shared the training room with, by unanimous decision at XMMA 3. It was Gibson’s sixth win in seven fights since parting ways with the UFC in 2016.
