Featherweight & Bantamweight Title fights Shifted to UFC 273

Meer days after announcing a championship double header for UFC 272 both title fights have moved to UFC 273 with a new featherweight title challenger in place.

 The trilogy fight between Max Holloway & Alexander Volkanovski is off after the Hawaiian was forced to withdraw due to injury. The Australian champion is now scheduled to defend against “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung in the UFC 273 main event. In September “The Great” successfully defend his belt for the 2nd time beating Brin Ortega by unanimous decision. Winner of three of his last four fights Jung’s last win by unanimous decision over Dan Ige this past June.

The co-main event of the April pay per view is the Bantamweight tile unification bout between champion Aljamain Sterling & interim champ Petr Yan. These two where first scheduled to meet at UFC 256 but Yan withdrew. At UF 259 Sterling won the UFC Bantamweight world title by disqualification being illegally kneed to the head by Yan. A lingering neck injury forced Sterling to pull out of UFC 267. Yan remained on the card defeating Corey Sandhagen to become interim champion.

 UFC 273 will be on April 9th. A location was not part of the announcement.

  • Bantamweight Title: (champ) Aljamain Sterling (20-3) vs. Petr Yan (16-2)
  • Bantamweight: Irene Aldana (13-6) vs. Aspen Ladd (9-2)
  • Featherweight: Pat Sabatini (16-3) vs. Gavin Tucker (13-2)
  • Welterweight: Mickey Gall (7-4) vs. Mike Malott (7-1-1)
