Once thick as thieves now bitter enemies. The first weekend of March “Chaos” & “Gamebred” will settle their differences in the main event of UFC 272.
The originally announced main event and co-main event for UFC 272 in March have been shifted over to UFC 273 in April with an adjust.
The March 5th pay per view is now distinction as the rare, numbered card not topped by a title fight. But we can all agree that the animosity between Covington & Masvidal will bullied more than intrigue to fuel the promotional engine and get the masses revved up for the fight.
While both fighters are coming off failed attempts to dethrone UFC Welterweight kingpin Kamaru Usman you can’t under state that Covington & Masvdial are both polarizing figures in their own ways. Covington vocal about his political beliefs and is also quite the “troll” on social media. Masvidal the winner of the UFC BMF title is also the owner of “Gamebred FC” a bare-knuckle MMA promotion and branched out into the liquor industry owning “El Recurdo” a Mezcal.
Back when Covington was first breaking into the UFC, Masvidal was there in Covington’s corner and helping him work on his striking. A college wrestler in return Covington was working with Masvidal to sure up his takedown defense. As far as can be seen from the outside it appears that the goal of winning the UFC Welterweight title drove a wedge between these two that isn’t been repairable.
