Rumor, UFC Returning to Brazil in May
Speculation across the internet is suggesting that Glover Teixeira’s first title defense will come on home soil.
While not confirmed its believed that the UFC will be heading to Brazil for the first time since March 2020 for UFC 274. The event is scheduled to happen on May 7th and rumor has it that Rio De Janeiro is the likely city.
In the main event will see the Czech Republic’s Jiri Prochazaha challenging for Teixeira’s UFC Light-heavyweight championship. This past October the 44-year-old Teixeira put an exclamation on a career resurgence where his sixth win in a row, a second-round rear naked choke of Jan Blachowicz secured the world title. Prochazka came to on a ten-fight win streak and champion of Rizin. Knockouts of top contenders Volkan Ozedemir & Dominick Reyes have quickly rose the 29-year-old to number one contender status.
One other fighter rumored for UFC 274 is in the women’s featherweight division pitting Brazil’s Norma Dumont against TUF 28 winner Macy Chiasson. Dumont consecutive decisions over Ashlee Evans-Smith, Delicia Spencer, & Aspen Ladd. Chiasson is 2-1 in her last three fights with decision wins over Shanna Young & Marion Reneau.
