Isidro Castillo’s School of Hard Knocks Boxing is retuning to Las Cruces New Mexico for an action pack night of boxing August 12th topped by a rising star from El Paso against a wily veteran from Bakersfield.
The eight-fight card will feature a mix of battle tested veteran, top prospects, & fighters just embarking on the pro journey. In the nights main event Jorge Tovar squares off with Tavorus Teague. Tovar had finished all three of his professional wins inside of the opening frame. The Pan Am Center is becoming a familiar battlefield to the 23-year-old who’s stopped Andre Mack & Brad Greick in his last two fights in the arena. Teague a well-traveled 43-fight vet is no stranger to New Mexico having fought in the state three times. The 35-year-old battled Jaron Ennis in Ennis’s third pro fight and went the distance with Cristian Cabral & Matthew Esquibel.
The co-main event will be an all-Texas affair in the women’s Lightweight division as Destiny Jones battles Stephanie Han. Last September Jones beat Janina Lopes by unanimous decision for a successful pro debut. The Georgetown resident stopped Shaniqua Frazier in the first round of her second pro fight. A member of El Paso law enforcement Han won decision over Isabel Garcia in October to get her career off to the right start. Unfortunately, Han has been plagued by a sting of cancellations ever since.
Belen’s fighting pride Derek “Rage” Perez a Boxer, Bare Knuckle fight, & mixed martial artist will square off with El Paso’ Victor Aranda who won his pro debut in the same building march in March stopping Garrett Lopez in the fourth round. Garrett Lopez will also be on the card taking on Anthony Jones as both are hunting for the allusive first professional victory.
In two fights between combatants making their pro debuts Mike Bueno from Lubbock faces Nick Hernandez from El Paso at 135 lbs. and at Heavyweight Antonio Matos Jr. from Clovis takes on Elijah Sweat from Las Cruces. Daniel Trevino will take on the major task of fighting 44-fight vet Manuel Rubalcava for his pro debut. Plus coming off a successful pro debut Joshua Ramirez against Ysidro Portillo.
