Decisive Figueirdo-Moreno Unification Bout on tap for UFC 283

The UFC’s first championship quad-gilodry, I might have made up a word, is heading for Brazil.

The UFC will be returning to Brazil for the first time since March of 2020 for UFC 283 on January 21st at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio De Janeiro.

The fourth battle between Deiveson Figueirdeo and Brand Moreno for the UFC Flyweight championship is expected to take place in South America.

Their first meeting at UFC 256 in December 2020 was scored a draw after the Figueiredo was deducted a point for a low blow. Six months later at UFC 263 Moreno captured the title submitting Figueirdo by rear naked choke. Seven months later at UFC 270 a five-round battle returned the belt to Figueirdo. At UFC 277 with Figueierdo engaged in heated contract dispute, Moreno stopped Kai Kara-France by third-round TKO to capture an interim Flyweight title.

This rivalry has definitely pushed each competitor to their limits and forced them to expanded their horizons. Figueiredo moving camp from his academy in Brazil to Fight Ready in Arizona while Moreno left his home in Tijuana for James Krause’s Glory MMA in Missouri.

With the series as even as possible it only makes sense to run this rivalry back one last time for all the marbles.

The card will also see at Middleweight number 15 ranked Brad Tavares against surging Gregory Rodrigues. Mounir “The Sniper” Lazzez welcomes former LFA champion Gabriel Bonfim to the Octagon at welterweight. And in Women’s Featherweight action Josiane Nunes squares off with Zarah Fairn.
