The Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi hosts UFC 280. The stacked 12-fight card offers a championship double header on the marquee.
The nights main event has the vacant UFC Lightweight championship on the line as former champion Brazil’s Charles Oliveira battles Dagestan’s Islam Makhachev. Oliveira relinquished the UFC Lightweight title after missing weight for UFC 274. The next night “Do Bronx” added to his all UFC record submission wins putting away Justin Gaethje. Makhachev is riding a ten-fight win streak with the last four wins by stoppage.
Former Bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw attempts to regain the title he never lost when he challenges Aljamain Sterling for the crown. Dillashaw was stripped of the title and suspended for testing positives for unregulated substances. Unbeaten for more then five years Sterling has climbed to the top of the division with a successful defense on his resume.
Plus former Bantamweight champion Petr Yan faces rising star number twelve ranked “Sugar” Sean O’Malley.
