In the blink of an eye, the UFC light- heavyweight title picture has been completely flipped upside down on its head.
The main event of UFC 282 was scheduled to see a rematch from UFC 275 with Jiri Prochazka defending the Light-Heavyweight title against the man he took it from Glover Teixeria. It appears that won’t be happening. Prochazka has apparently suffered such a serious injury in training that he’s vacated the championship. Furthermore Glover Teixeria has turned down the opportunity to face a different opponent on short notice for the vacant title.
The originally scheduled co-main event between former Champion Jan Blachowicz & Magomed Ankalaev has been elevated to main event status and will be to crown a new Light-Heavyweight king. News was broke by Yahoo Sports.
Blachowicz rebounded from losing the Light-Heavyweight to Glover Teixeria in May chopping down oncoming Alexsander Rakic. Ankalaev is on a nine-fight win streak. His last three wins have come off title challengers Volkan Oezdemir, Thiago Santos, & Anthony Smith.
UFC 282 is December 10th at the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas, Nevada .
