Jon Jones Fighting for UFC Heavyweight Title in March

The long-awaited heavyweight debut of John Jones is finally a reality. At UFC 285 the former Light-Heavyweight  champion will fight for the vacant UFC heavyweight title.

The arguably greatest fighter in MMA history will square off with former interior. Champion, Frances Ciryl Gane. The two will battle for the belt that was stripped from Francis N’Gannou after he and the UFC failed to reach a contract agreement. The UFC added that Francis Ngannou is fully a free agent and they’ve waive their contractual right to match any of his offers.

We’re nearly three-years removed from UFC 247 where Jones narrowly defeated Dominick Reyes to retain the UFC Light-Heavyweight title. That win was “Bones” 14th win in a UFC title fight.  A week later Jan Blachowicz knocked out Cory Anderson fueling rumors Jones would remain in the division for one more fight. These talks quickly died down leaving many in anticipation of Jones entry to competing in the land of the Giants.

Gane burst onto the UFC scene at just 3-0. Three wins lasted Gane scores a monumental win stopping former Champion Junior Dos Santos. Three wins later Gane captured an interim Heavyweight title stopping Derrick Lewis. This past September the number three ranked Heavyweight, opened the French market for the UFC by knocking out Tai Tuivasa.

UFC 285 is March 4th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Nevada.
