LFA 149 Results, Bunes captures LFA title with First round Finish

The Gila River Resort & Casino in Chandler Arizona hosts LFA 149. The first LFA event of 2023 features a seven-fight card headlined by a fight for the vacant LFA Flyweight championship.

In the main event two of the sports top flyweight prospects go head to head as Brazil’s Felipe Bunes squares off with Japan’s Yuma Horiuchi. The Flyweight title is on the line for Felipe Bunes but not Yuma Horiuchi who lost the opportunity after missing weight by 1.6 lbs. 

The night got going with Princeton Jackson running is unbeaten record to 3-0, but not without being tested. C.J. Brant landed some big hooks putting Jackson against the fence. Jackson would get the fight down threaten a deep knee bar. After escaping Brant would again find himself in Jackson’s grasp having his back taken the rear naked choke sealed the deal.  Adam Garcia started quickly jumping on Cedric Katambwa with a guillotine choke. As Katamwa escapes his weight appears to cause an injury to Garcia who taps from the pain. Tony Charles stunned Eric Fimbres with a uppercut. Fimbres came right back with a flying knee and ended the 2nd round on top. Fimbres attacked the grappling in the third dragging Charles to the ground and finishing with strikes. Marcus McGhee pressured Luciano Ramos to the fence drawing blood off boxing combinations. Luciano tried to invite McGhee to the ground but each invitation was declined. A high kick left uppercut right hook combination sat Ramos down for the second round finish. Yuma Horiuchi put his foot down on the gas as soon as the main event got going. The Japense fighter launching kicks to all level of Bunes body. The Brazilian fighter found the opening for a counter left hook knocking down Horiuchi and finished the fight with hammerfists.

  • Lightweight: Cedric Katambwa (2-0) def. Adam Garcia (1-1) by TKO (rib injury) 0:58 R1
  • Catchweight 165 lbs.: Princeton Jackson (3-0) def. C.J. Brant (0-1) by submission (rear naked choke) 4:09 R1
