Sanchez, Hernandez, & Torres All apart of Tapia Fight Night

Boxing is returning to the Rio Rancho Events Center February 24th.

Former WBO title holder Jason Sanchez will headline a stacked card featuring some of the sports top prospects & Albuquerque’s biggest names.

The event is a joint venture as Tiller Fight Club teams with Tapia Promotions in o present Tapia Fight Night streaming on FITE.TV. Returning to the ring after two year hiatus Jason Sanchez will take on unbeaten Andy Beltran. The co-main event will put 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Nicco Hernandez against the veteran challenge of Gilberto Mendoza.

Former professional soccer player, Luis Castillo Jr. Will continue to follow in his legendary father’s footsteps on the card. New Mexico State champion Josh “Pitbull” Torres, protégée of the late Johnny Tapia will reportedly tangle with unbeaten Sharif Rahman a Baltimore native. A true hidden gem, 33-0 Abel Mendoza from El Paso will take on 71-fight vet Ernesto Guerrero from Sonora, Mexico.

Jason Sanchez’s brother Jose Luis is also set for action against Ann Arbor Michigan’s Reggie Harris Jr. The event will see two rematches featuring Power & Glory Boxing’s representatives. First, Lorenzo Benavidez will face Jordan Gregory a rematch from August, where Gregory won a decision. The other will see Jordanne “OMG” Garcia and  Sonya Dreiling run it back for a second time. Dreiling won the first meeting in November of 2019 by majority decision.

The weigh-ins on February 23rd will be a one of a kind scene taking place at The Round House Room 318 is located at 490 Old Santa Fe Trail in Santa Fe, NM 87501 from12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.. Governor Lujan Grisham will declare February 24th Boxing Day in New Mexico. World Boxing Council (WBC) president, Mauricio Sulaiman is also expected to be in attendance and to talk about the present & future of Boxing.
