FightWorld MMA 28 Results Gutierrez makes Quick work of Diaz for first pro win

⊄⊆The Revel Entertainment Center in Albuquerque New Mexico hosts FightWorld MMA 28. The 14-fight card includes two professional bouts on top of a 10-fight amateur card.  The main event will see El Paso’s Alejandro Diaz returning to the cage after seven years away to face off with Albuquerque’s Alejandro Gutierrez in his highly anticipated pro debut.

Recap:

The Night started off with Anthony Camacho grinding out Zander Danyliw with five takedowns for a unanimous decision. All Angel Gallegos needed was one takedown to trap Chad Petty against the fence unloading right hands to secure the first round finish. The right overhand was on point for Matthew Routzen as he staggered Kenneth Ruiz on several occasions and landed a cutting opening elbow in the 2nd round to a split decision.  Robert Smith-Nealy took and early lead out scrambling Alexis Soria and drawing blood with ground strikes in the first. Soria had Smith-Nealy stunned in the second off a spinning backfist and right uppercut. Smith-Nealy weathered the stormed and scored his own knockdown with a straight left.  The third was a dog fight in the clinch with little shots being land and Smith-Nealy reclaiming the lead for a decision win. Call Velasquez wasted no time unleashing barrage of  overhead rights devastating knocking down and stop it John Gonzalez in the first round. Sergio Gutierrez sits Alfredo Alvara down with a straight right hand in the opening seconds. Moments later Gutierrez lands the clean left hook dropping and stopping Alvara. Xavier Martin took down Angel Reyes at the beginning of the second round finding the TKO raining down strikes from mount.  Quashan Randelson fell into mount got swept by and almost armbared by Andrez Martinez. After escaping the submission attempt Randelson broke down Martinez base to his knee firing left hands till the red jumped in.  James Romero went right his bread and butter getting into the clinch and attacking takedowns. While AJ Hotchkins was able to keep up the pace for a while the relentless effort of Romero broke Hotchkins down. Romero flattened Hotchkins sinking in a fight ending rear naked choke. A sledgehammer fist from Jacob Martos nullified and stopped the Iyeab Varela takedown attack, forcing Varela to go all in on a kneebar. Martos calmly extracted his leg taking the opportunity to rain down punches forcing the stoppage with two seconds left on the clock. Victor Santillan vs Tyrel Wisdom came together on incredibly shot notice and the size advantage as Wisdom went up in weight was evident as Santillan was able to muscle his way into the top control and stuck in some right hands to earn a decision win.

The co-main event saw  Perez Fighting Systems Sterling Peak against Julian Perez from Zen Martial Arts. Perez caught Peak with a front kick to the mouth early. Peak took the fight to the ground scoring but also having to escape a deep armbar. Peak perpetually moving forward in the second momentarily sat down by a short left hook. Peak pops back up in the face of Perez forcing a brawl.  Perez bleeding under his right eye and over his left eye after the second. The third round was  focused around Peak putting his forehead under Perez’s jaw firing a brawl in a phone booth digging hooks high and low. The judges return a split decision in favor or Sterling Peak.

In the nights main event Alejandro Dia from Zen Martial Arts in El Paso, Texas faced off with Albuquerque’s own Alejandro “Hodo” Gutierrez from FIT NHB. Gutierrez hit Diaz with some body shoots to soften him up before scoring a takedown. The top pressure and peppering strikes from Gutierrez open up a head and arm choke securing the first round finish.
